Mohammad Mousa is a commercial transformation leader with a track record of helping organizations achieve measurable business growth, strategic relevance, and long-term value creation. As the Founder of MentalX, he is building an end-to-end commercial transformation firm that helps organizations move beyond strategy into execution.
From Experience to MentalX
We started the interview by asking, βMohammad Mousa, can you tell us about your professional journey and what inspired you to establish MentalX?β
Mohammad Mousa replied, βMy career has always been driven by solving complex business challenges that require both strategic thinking and practical execution. Over the years, I have worked across technology, government transformation, digital trust, cybersecurity governance, and commercial leadership, gaining experience in organizations where execution mattered just as much as vision.
Throughout this journey, I realized that many organizations develop impressive strategies but struggle to translate them into measurable commercial outcomes. That realization inspired me to establish MentalX. The company was created to bridge the gap between strategy and execution by helping businesses create sustainable growth, strengthen market relevance, and deliver measurable value rather than simply producing strategic reports.β
Lessons from Global Leadership
Times CEO: How has your experience at PwC, Careem, EGSP, and leading major transformation initiatives influenced your leadership style?
Mohammad Mousa replied, βEvery organization taught me something different about leadership. At PwC Middle East, I developed governance frameworks that strengthened digital trust and cybersecurity for governments. At Careem, I experienced the pace and agility required within high-growth technology businesses while supporting the technology compliance program during the company’s landmark acquisition. At EGSP, I focused on developing emerging markets across the Middle East and Africa, where understanding different market dynamics became essential. EGSP stands for Emirates German Security Printing and was a public private partnership between the German federal state printer and the MoI of UAE in Abu Dhabi. Leading the UAE ePassport transformation further reinforced that successful leadership is built on collaboration, accountability, and delivering measurable outcomes. These experiences shaped my belief that leaders must balance innovation with disciplined execution while maintaining focus on creating long-term value.β
Transforming the UAE ePassport
Times CEO: The UAE ePassport project became a remarkable success. What lessons did that transformation teach you?
Mohammad Mousa replied, βThe biggest lesson is that transformational success never comes from technology alone. Technology is only an enabler.
Real transformation happens when governments, stakeholders, operational teams, and leadership share a common vision and remain committed to execution. Building trust, maintaining high standards, and continuously improving every process were equally important factors. That project demonstrated how disciplined execution and strategic alignment can create outcomes that achieve global recognition.β
The Power of Commercial Transformation
Times CEO: MentalX focuses on commercial transformation. How is commercial transformation different from traditional business consulting?
Mohammad Mousa replied, βTraditional consulting often delivers recommendations, presentations, and strategic roadmaps. Commercial transformation goes much further by ensuring those strategies actually generate measurable business results. At MentalX, the focus is on improving commercial performance across every stage of the customer journey from market positioning and customer acquisition to revenue optimization and long-term growth. Success is measured by business impact rather than documentation. Organizations need partners who remain engaged until value is delivered, not just until a report is completed.β
Today’s Biggest Business Challenges
Times CEO: What are the biggest commercial challenges businesses face today?
Mohammad Mousa replied, βThe business environment is changing faster than ever before. Many companies continue operating with models that were successful years ago but no longer reflect customer expectations or market realities. The biggest challenges include maintaining relevance, differentiating in competitive markets, aligning commercial teams with business objectives, and making data-driven decisions quickly. Organizations that continuously adapt while staying focused on customer value will outperform those that rely on past success.β
Government vs. Private-Sector Transformation
Times CEO: You have worked extensively across government and private sectors. What differences do you see between these environments?
Mohammad Mousa replied, βGovernment transformation usually focuses on public value, national priorities, long-term sustainability, and regulatory excellence. Private-sector transformation often emphasizes speed, customer experience, revenue growth, and competitive advantage.
Despite these differences, both environments require disciplined execution, strong governance, stakeholder alignment, and effective leadership. The organizations that perform best are those that successfully combine strategic planning with operational excellence.β
Preparing for Future Growth
Times CEO: How should organizations prepare for the future of commercial transformation?
Mohammad Mousa replied, βOrganizations should develop a culture that embraces continuous learning, innovation, and adaptability. Markets evolve rapidly, and customer expectations continue to rise.
Leaders should invest in talent, strengthen decision-making through reliable data, adopt emerging technologies responsibly, and ensure every initiative contributes measurable business value. Commercial transformation should become an ongoing capability rather than a one-time project.β
Leadership in a Changing World
Times CEO: What leadership qualities do you believe are essential for today’s executives?
Mohammad Mousa replied, βModern leaders must be adaptable, resilient, and customer-focused. They should communicate clearly, empower their teams, and remain willing to challenge traditional ways of thinking. Strong leadership also requires humility. No leader succeeds alone. Building high-performing teams, encouraging collaboration, and creating an environment where innovation thrives are essential for sustainable success.β
Building Sustainable Business Growth
Times CEO: What advice would you give entrepreneurs and business leaders who want to accelerate growth?
Mohammad Mousa replied, βGrowth should never come at the expense of long-term value. Start by deeply understanding your customers and the problems you solve for them. Build capabilities that competitors cannot easily replicate, focus on execution rather than perfection, and continuously measure outcomes. Sustainable businesses are built through consistency, strategic discipline, and the ability to evolve with changing markets.β
The Future Vision for MentalX
Lastly we asked, βWhat is your long-term vision for MentalX?β
βMy vision is for MentalX to become a globally recognized commercial transformation partner that helps organizations create measurable impact rather than theoretical strategies. We aim to help businesses remain relevant, strengthen commercial performance, unlock new growth opportunities, and build capabilities that continue delivering value well into the future. Success for MentalX will always be measured by the success of our clients.β Mohammad Mousa concluded
