It’s September, and that means the new iPhone is finally coming this month. Here’s a quick guide to everything you need to know.
Date & Time: Tuesday, Sept. 9, 10 a.m. PT
Location: Steve Jobs Theater, Apple Park, Cupertino
Apple’s big event is almost here. It will likely be a pre-recorded video hosted by CEO Tim Cook. We can expect four new iPhones:
iPhone 17
iPhone 17 Pro
iPhone 17 Pro Max
A thinner model, possibly called iPhone 17 Air
Apple is also expected to show at least two new Apple Watches and maybe new AirPods.
The event will take place in front of invited press and guests at the Steve Jobs Theater, but you can watch it live too:
On Apple’s YouTube channel
In the Apple TV app (on iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV)
On apple.com/apple-events (you can add it to your calendar now)
After the keynote, Apple will share dates for pre-orders, the software update, and when the new iPhones go on sale.
Expected date: Friday, Sept. 12, 5 a.m. Pacific (to be confirmed)
Apple will confirm this at the keynote. It’s likely the same as last year—early Friday after the launch event.
Tip: You can log in to apple.com the night before, add items to your shopping bag, and be ready when pre-orders go live.
Expected date: Monday, Sept. 15, 5 a.m. Pacific (to be confirmed)
This update works with the iPhone 17 and all models back to the iPhone 11.
It’s already in public beta but should be available to everyone soon—probably the Monday after the keynote, or maybe even earlier.
Expected date: Friday, Sept. 19, 7 a.m. local time (to be confirmed)
Apple will confirm this at the keynote, but it’s almost always on a Friday morning in your local time zone.
